The Jammu and Kashmir Police have deployed all-women flying squads in sensitive areas to check crime against women in Srinagar.
The women flying squad force has been deployed at various coaching centers across Srinagar. Flying squads are teams capable of reaching a site of crime quickly.
The move follows the December 11 acid attack on a law student by car-borne assailants outside her college in the city?s Nowshera area. There have also been several complaints from female students about harassment by stalkers.
According to the police, the essence of the idea is that the victims will find it easier to approach women personnel. Female students as well as senior citizens hailed this step taken by the police authorities.
They said by deploying all women flying squads the crime rate against women folk will decrease in coming months.
