Jammu and Kashmir police on Wednesday ordered promotion of 487 head constables to the rank of Assistant Sub-Inspectors.
Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, Abdul Ghani Mir issued the orders, a police spokesman said.
The IGP congratulated the officers and their families on the promotions and asked them to work with more dedication and devotion for the welfare of the people, the spokesman said.
Mir told the officers that the promotions brought more responsibilities on their shoulders and they should work to meet the expectations of people and the department.
On April 25, Departmental Promotion Committee had cleared the promotion of 140 Assistant Sub-Inspectors to the rank of Sub-Inspectors, he said.
