The coordination committee of separatists on Sunday announced a month-long programme including two general strikes and a call for Lal Chowk march as part of its programme to press for implementation of right to self-determination in Jammu and Kashmir.

A general strike will be observed on Monday in protest against the "atrocities committed on the people and the scheduled meeting of Election Commission of India" with the mainstream political parties of the state to decide the date for elections in the state, chairman of hardline faction of Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Shah Geelani told reporters after a marathon meeting of the panel Srinagar.

"Another strike will be observed on September 20 followed by the Lal Chowk march on October six to press for implementation of UN resolutions on plebiscite," Geelani said.

He said there will be a shutdown on all Fridays from 1230 hours barring "Jumat-ul-vida" (the last Friday of Ramzan) when he will address a congregation at holy shrine of Hazratbal, while chairman of the rival faction of Hurriyat, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, will address a similar congregation at Jamia Masjid.

"Peaceful protests will be organised at all district headquarters after mid-day prayers till evening," he said.
