Jade Goody was evicted by public vote from the British reality TV show "Celebrity Big Brother" - which has attracted widespread criticism for broadcasting alleged racist incidents.

Host Davina McCall announced the news of Goody's eviction live on television and to the show's contestants, who stay in one house cut off from access to the outside while still participating in the show. Goody's eviction means she must leave the house.

Thousands of Britons had complained to Britain's television regulator, alleging that Indian actress Shilpa Shetty had been subjected to racial abuse from Goody, a minor British celebrity, and model Danielle Lloyd.

The racism allegations have dominated the news agenda in both Britain and India.

"Jade obviously has no idea that for the last week she has been at the center of an international crisis," McCall said, as she announced the eviction.
