Jai Santoshi Ma
, produced by Percept Pictures Company (PPC), is ready for release on September 22.
A film by the same name was first released in 1975, along with Sholay, and was declared an instant hit.
Talking to reporters after the music release of the film on Thursday evening, PPC COO Mahesh Ramanathan said his company had purchased the rights of the original Jai Santoshi Ma and had retained the original concept as well as the main song Aarti Utaroo... in the new movie.
"This film is about faith and will set higher benchmarks in quality as well as box office success," he added.
The music was released by actor Salman Khan. He performed the aarti and said such films should be remade because they were culturally and ethically correct.
"I have worked with PPC in Phir Milenge and the production company always gives social messages through their movies," he said.
Music composer of the film, Anu Malik, said composing music for Jai Santoshi Ma had changed the course of his life.
"I am lucky to be the chosen one because of the divine blessings of the Goddess," he added.
The album contains three tracks penned by Swanand Kirkire. The film is directed by Ahmed Siddique with stars Nushrat Bharucha and Rakesh Bapat in the lead roles.
The music release function was attended by David Dhawan, Madhur Bhandarkar, Nagesh Kuknoor and Rakesh Roshan.
Siddique said Jai Santoshi Ma is about how the Goddess supports her devotees. It is a story about how undying faith in Santoshi Ma could redeem one's life and how the divine intervention of the Goddess can change one's life entirely.
The film deals with the story of Mahima, an ardent devotee of the Goddess and Anuraag, a musician. The hardship they face together as husband and wife and how they overcome all hurdles due to the blessings of Santoshi Ma, he added.
