Four-time legislator and prominent Rajput leader from Nilokheri, in Karnal, Jai Singh Rana on Wednesday gave firm indication of joining the Haryana Janhit Congress party.
Rana on Wednesday inspected new grain market at Ghraunda, near here along with the former deputy chief minister and HJC leader Chander Mohan.
Rana had announced a political rally at Ghraunda on March 17 to announce his future political course of action.
However, Rana remained evasive on joining the HJC.
“I am still a Congressman and further result of my supporters’ deliberations will be announced on March 17,” he said.
Rana, who was not fielded from his native assembly segment in the 2009 election, after it was declared as a reserved seat for Scheduled Caste, was showing resentment against the Congress leadership.
In an interview to Hindustan Times on February 24, Rana had shown his face of revolt against Congress.
He had alleged the party had been neglecting a veteran leader like him for unsaid reasons and had also shown his keen interest in re-entering the electoral politics.
Rana remained close to the former chief minister and founder of HJC Bhajan Lal.
HJC president Kuldeep Bishnoi and Chander Mohan are Lal’s sons.
Rana’s plan to choose Ghraunda for his next plan is seen as a political calculation.
Like Nilokheri, Ghraunda also has a significant number of Rajput voters and he is trying to bargain his impressive political clout in his community.
