In yet another such incident in Rajasthan, the hair of a Sikh prisoner were forcibly cut off by four other inmates of district Central Jail at Sewar, five kilometres from Bharatpur, on Wednesday.

Identified as Pratap Singh, the prisoner is undergoing life imprisonment for murder; District Collector R Venkatswaran said adding the additional collector would be investigating into the matter.

As the news of the incident spread, a group of Sikhs, led by BJP Sikh leaders Sardar Tara Singh and Gurdip Singh reached the central jail to meet the victim but were not allowed to go inside.

Senior police officials have reached the spot and started investigating other prisoners some of whom claimed that Partap had cut his hair himself when his request to be shifed from the Central jail elsewhere was turned down and his petition for parole dismissed.
