Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief, Qazi Hussain Ahmad, has said that if President Pervez Musharraf remains in power at the time of the 2007 elections, he will not participate in it.

Describing this as his personal view, Ahmad was quoted by The News as saying that a final decision on his participation lay in the hands of the JI Executive Committee or Majlis-e-Shoora.

He said that if Musharraf supervised the elections, it meant Pakistan would remain a dictatorship.

He also suggested that the Indian lobby was active in the North West Frontier Province.
