About 200 members of the Muslim community held a demonstration outside the divisional commissioner's office on Monday, to protests against the venue of a dangal (wresting match).

The protesters claimed that the land in Bishnah on which the match was being organised was the community's grave yard.

The protestors said the revenue records clearly reflected that the land belonged to the community "for centuries" but said even then the local administration decided to allow the competition "in a one-sided decision".

A deputation of the Muslims met the divisional commissioner Jammu Pawan Kotwal and produced the revenue records before him. The divisional commissioner asked the protestors to meet him again.
