Jammu police finally solved the murder mystery of underworld don Sanjay Gupta alias Bakra and during the questioning of the two arrested accused cracked the modus operandi.

SSP Jammu Mukesh Singh said, "Following the revelations of Rajesh Dogra alias Mohan Cheer and Vishal Singh alias Vicky Thakur, police arrested one more accused Sonu, an auto-rickshaw driver and resident of Samba on Thursday."

Singh disclosed that the case has been cracked down and all the persons involved in Bakra's murder have been identified including the mysterious girl who called up the deceased in the residential clinic of Dr Rattan Kudiyar at Trikuta Nagar on Saturday morning.

The SSP further said that Mohan Cheer was the prime accused in the case who planned murder along with Palla and Vicky, previous associates of the Bakra gang. "To execute the crime they had also sought the help of one Kapil.

Palla the previous close associate of Bakra informed them that only way to get him out alone was to use the services of a lady," the SSP said and further added, "Kapil introduced his girlfriend Monika, a resident of Talab Tillo locality to the group and influenced her to start talking to Bakra."

The SSP said that after a fortnight long interaction with Bakra, Monika came close to him and on Saturday morning requested him to come at the clinic of Dr Kudiyar and misinforming him that her mother was not feeling well.

"On that very morning, as per the planning," the SSP informed, "Palla was defined as he was given the job of following movement of Bakra and informed the assailants accordingly, while Mohan Cheer, Vicky Thakur, Kapil and Monika assembled near Dr. Kudiyar's clinic along with
weapons."

Singh said that Monika then called up Bakra and asked him to come and Kapil informed Mohan and Vicky to wait at the clinic and he went to the main market to give advance warning. "After she called up Bakra, Monica left the place in a minibus," the SSP said and added, "Bakra finally reached the clinic of Dr Kudiyar in his Santro car, where Mohan Cheer had a scuffle with him initially.

Vicky Thakur fired twice with short gun, then Mohan Cheer stood up and he also fired at Bakra with his pistol." After killing the underworld don both the assailants fled away towards the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway, where they left their Vespa scooter for repair. They then reached Samba and handed over the weapons to their friend Sonu (auto-rickshaw driver).

The accused revealed to police that earlier they fled away to Dalhousie, where they stayed for one day and later proceeded to Jallandhar before reaching New Delhi from where the duo were arrested on Wednesday.

Monika who joined Kapil at Dalhousie, Palla and one other accused Deepu, who provided weapons are still at large.
