The Jammu Srinagar National Highway, the only surface link between Kashmir and the rest of the country, remained closed for the second consecutive day on Monday due to heavy snowfall and landslides in the area.
Fresh landslides hit Panthal area even as heavy snowfall continued in Banihal and Jawahir tunnel area, traffic police officials said.
Over 3,500 vehicles have been stranded at several places on the 300 km long stretch, which was blocked following incessant snowfall at Jawahir Tunnel and Patnitop besides landslides at Panthial on Sunday.
