Jat Regiment emerge overall winners

THE JAT Regiment Centre team emerged the overall winners and bagged the DG Infantry Trophy at the conclusion of the 5th Young Blood Shooting Championship (YBC) held at the Infantry School, Mhow firing ranges here on Saturday.

THE JAT Regiment Centre team emerged the overall winners and bagged the DG Infantry Trophy at the conclusion of the 5th Young Blood Shooting Championship (YBC) held at the Infantry School, Mhow firing ranges here on Saturday.

Infantry School Commandant Lt Gen Satyevir Yadav distributed prizes to the winners of the championship at a prize distribution ceremony at the CR-2 range.

The team of Assam Regiment Centre won the second position winning the Tata Cup while Dogra Regiment won the third position winning the BPRA Cup. In the individual events of rifle shooting, sepoy Deepak Kumar of Jat Regiment Centre won the gold while Harbir Singh of the same centre and sepoy Rajveer Singh of Rajput Regiment Centre won the silver and bronze medals respectively.

In the individual events of pistol shooting, Rupam Jyoti Laskar of Assam Regimental Centre won the gold medal whereas sepoy Narinder Singh of Punjab Regiment and sep Sandeep Kumar of Jat Regiment won the silver and bronze medals respectively.

In the 10 m air rifle (women), Lt Thomas of Eastern Command won the gold while Capt K Sangeeta of Western Command and Lt Sneha Bhandari of Northern Command won the silver and bronze medals respectively. In the 10-m air pistol (women), Lt Sneha Bhandari of Northern Command, Capt Sapna Thakur of Central Command and Capt Aparna Gulati of Western Command won the gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.

Capt Praveen Bandi of Central Command won the gold medal in the 10-m air rifle (men) while Maj Chinmay Zanane of Assam Rifles and Maj Naresh of Northern Command won the silver and bronze medals respectively.  Individuals standing first, second and third position in these two matches were also given cash prize of Rs 5000, Rs 3500 and Rs 2500 respectively.
