An Army jawan was gunned down and a woman injured by terrorists in separate incidents in Anantnag and Baramulla districts of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said in Srinagar on Wednesday.

Sepoy Angrez Singh was killed when terrorists opened fire on a search party of the Rashtriya Rifles at the Laamad village of Anantnag district on Tuesday night, they said.

The terrorists fled soon after taking advantage of darkness.

A massive search operation has been launched in the area to trace the terrorists, they said.

In a separate incident, terrorists barged into the house of an ex-serviceman Mohammad Iqbal in Sopore area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district and fired upon his wife Misra Begum on Tuesday night.

Misra received a bullet injury in her leg and was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, they said.

No terrorist outfit has so far claimed responsibility for the two incidents.
