An army jawan was injured in an encounter in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said in Jammu on Saturday.
Acting on a tip off, troops launched a search operation in Kurthwan in Doda district early today, they said, adding that ultras opened fire with their automatic weapons as the troops reached nearer to them.
The troops also retaliated and in the ensuing encounter one army jawan was injured, they said.
The injured jawan was later airlifted to a hospital at Doda for treatment, they added.
The encounter was continuing in the area when reports last came in.
In a separate incident, security forces recovered an arms cache in Rajouri district last evening.
The recoveries included one AK magazine, 99 AK rounds, one chinese hand grenade.
Meanwhile, the death toll in the ongoing encounter in Kupwara district between militants and security forces has risen to two with the killing of an army jawan, a police spokesman said.
Naik Kishori Lal, a jawan of Eight Grenadiers, was killed in the encounter with militants at Zoona Reshi-Chopan Mohalla area of Kupwara last evening, the spokesman said.
He said a militant was killed on April two when the encounter broke out in the area.
