A soldier of 12 Madras Regiment allegedly shot two of his colleagues in Manipur’s Churachandpur district, 66 km south of here, late on Monday.
The two junior commissioned officers were identified as Subedar Mrityunjaya of Tamil Nadu and Subedar Thanapa of Kerala.
The accused rifleman Narayanan tried to flee, but was caught by his colleagues and handed over to the police.
The incident took place at the regiment’s Khengjang power station post under Churachandpur police station around 10.30 pm, the police said. A case of murder has been registered against Narayanan.
“The army has ordered a high-level inquiry and disciplinary action will be taken against the soldier,” army sources told Hindustan Times.
