The Special Court trying the disproportionate assets case against former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Monday posted the hearing to May 7.
When the case up before Judge B M Malllikarjunaiah, a request was made by Jayalalithaa's counsel for short adjournment. The plea was made on the ground that the Special Leave petition she had filed before the Supreme Court challenging the Special Judge order dismissing her petition seeking discharge from the case, was coming up tomorrow.
Acceding to the request, the court adjourned the case.
The Special Court on April 27, had dismissed her application praying for discharging her in the case.
Jayalalithaa had made the plea on the ground that investigation conducted by Tamil Nadu police during the year 1996-97, was "not in accordance with law".
The Supreme Court on March 19 had declined to stay the trial against her in the 14 year-old disproportionate assets case.
