Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa has started working the phones in a bid to push former Lok Sabha speaker PA Sangma’s candidature for president.

The ADMK supremo is believed to have had telephonic conversations with leaders of different political parties — including BJP leader LK Advani, CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat and Shiromani Akali Dal leader Parkash Singh Badal — rallying support for Sangma.

“I appeal to political parties to support Sangma in the presidential polls.”
