AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa on Wednesday replaced another of the party’s Lok Sabha candidates, fielding SMK Mohammed Ali Jinaa in place of SS Chandran in the Central Chennai constituency.
Jayalalithaa, in a statement in Chennai on Wednesday night, said Chandran, who underwent a bypass surgery recently, had complained of chest pain and doctors had advised him rest.
Under these circumstances, Jinna, party’s south Chennai minority cell secretary, would be fielded as its nominee, she said.
Chandran, a popular Tamil film comedian, is the fourth candidate to be replaced by the party in as many days.
Earlier, the party announced that Dr P Venugopal would replace GK Inbaraj in Tiruvallur constituency while in Villupuram former minister M Anandan would be the new candidate in place of P Murugan.
The party had also replaced R Marudairaj in Perambalur with KK Balasubramanian.
