The Jharkhand government has issued a show cause notice to state cricket association president Amitabh Choudhary for registering a dubious body called 'Bihar Cricket Association' in an apparent violation of rules.
Jharkhand Registration Department has issued a notice seeking reply from Choudhary for constituting 'Bihar Cricket Association' and getting it registered from the department despite the fact that a similar body exists in Bihar.
Cricket Association of Jharkhand (CAJ) came into existence after the state was formed in 2000 with its headquarter in Jamshedpur.
Simultaneously, Bihar also formed its own cricket body with headquarters in Patna.
The Registration Department has said in its notice that "Registration of BCA in Ranchi, which is already existent in Bihar, and its subsequent change into 'Jharkhand State Cricket Association' is a violation of section 23 of state Society Registration Act and also under the similar law of Bihar."
The show cause, returnable in 30 days, asked why the registration of the dubious body should not be cancelled and a criminal case not be registered against Choudhary for concealing facts.
