The five-day dharna outside the Jind civil hospital after a 20-year-old Dalit girl was found dead, ended on Friday evening after the Jind district administration accepted the protesters' demands.

The protesters had demanded Hisar superintendent of police (SP) Satish Balan to investigate the case in which several protesters were arrested on August 25 and were charged with vandalising public property.

The protesters also demanded a job according to the district collector wage norms for a member of the victim's family. In addition, they urged the administration to ensure that the victim's family was given monetary help by the state government.

Notably, deputy commissioner Rajiv Rattan had said at a press conference in Jind on Thursday that the viscera report had confirmed that the girl had died after consuming Celphos tablets. "Her vaginal swab report revealed that no rape was committed with the victim," he had said.

The victim's kin would cremate the body at their native Baniya Khera village on Saturday.

The girl had gone missing from a town where she had gone to take a re-appear examination on August 24. A day after the body was found, the victim's family alleged that she was raped before being murdered.
