Jiwaji varsity gets new V-C

FOUR MONTHS after Prof Hoshiyar Singh was removed by the Raj Bhavan from the post of Vice-Chancellor of the Jiwaji University, Gwalior, head of department of anthropology of Delhi University, Prof A K Kapoor has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of the university.

The appointment under section 13(1) of the MP Universities Act would be for period of four years from the date of joining of Prof Kapoor.

DAVV: Meanwhile, the Raj Bhavan has extended the tenure of Prof Rajkamal as in charge Vice-Chancellor of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV), Indore, till the time a regular V-C is appointed. Earlier Prof Rajkamal’s appointment was for duration of six months.

The search panel for V-C of DAVV headed by former chief justice of India Prof J S Verma has reportedly submitted the panel of names for probable vice-chancellors to the Raj Bhavan recently. Former director of Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) Prof Pradeep Chande who is currently with IIM, Indore, principal of the Hindu College, New Delhi Dr Kavita Sharma and Dr Jain of Delhi University reportedly form the panel of the names submitted.
