Opposition PDP today alleged that the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) was making some officials scapegoat in Rs 50 crore "bungling" and letting big fishes off the hook.
"They (JKCA and its management) are making some officials scapegoat and letting big fishes off the hook. Unfortunately, they are again trying to make some officials scapegoat instead of instituting an inquiry and putting questions to Dr Farooq Abdullah (JKCA chairman)," PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti said here.
Supporting a CBI probe into the matter, Mufti said, "Why double standards? If you can book Suresh Kalmadi (by Central Government), why not here. It calls for that (CBI probe)".
"There is corruption in family and party of NC," Mufti alleged, asking why stern action was not taken against corrupt leaders.
"It is misappropriation of Rs 50 crores in JKCA, which is headed by Dr Farooq Abdullah. This should be investigated. No FIR has been registered till now in such a huge misappropriation case," Mufti said.
The state assembly had witnessed uproarious scenes yesterday when the PDP members staged a walkout, seeking an FIR against Farooq in the issue.
Two JKCA office-bearers were asked to step down after charges of their involvement in the alleged embezzlement of funds by the association in the name of development of sports.
