JLN School bamboozle Hero?s

india Updated: Dec 28, 2006 12:46 IST

JAWAHAR LAL Nehru School registered an impressive ten-wicket victory over Hero’s Convent School in Dr Govind Narayan Singh Memorial Inter-School Cricket Carnival at Old Campion Grounds here on Wednesday. JLN School team sent the rival team packing for 53 — the lowest score so far in the cricket carnival.

JLN Nehru School players bowled and fielded brilliantly. After two close matches on the earlier days, the fourth day of the tournament was completely a one-sided affair.

Batting first after winning the toss turned out to be disastrous for Hero’s Convent School. The team lost first wicket (Rohit Singh) at the score of 7 run. By the time the score read 18, four wickets had fallen. Sanket was the highest scorer  for the team with 16 runs. Five batsmen went back to the dressing room without troubling the scorer. The team was restricted to 53 runs in 18.2 overs.

The duo of Dhruv Rajoriya and Premal Jain scalped three wickets each.  Abhishek and Samay Shrivastava took two wickets each.

In reply, the fireworks by openers Abhimanyu Pandey and Premal Jain helped JLN School reached the target in just six overs. Premal Jain was adjudged Man of the Match.

Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) chairman Ramdayal Prajapati was introduced to the teams. District BJP president Surendranath Singh presented the award to Premal Jain. BCCI match referee K C Sriniwasan, BDCA chairman Dhruv Narayan Singh, organising secretary Aruneshwar Singhdeo, organising president Vijesh Lunawat, Sushil Singh Thakur, Arun Tyagi, Rakesh Rajoriya, Deepak Goyal, Vikas Khare and others were present.
