JMA?s call to oust Yadav Govt

india Updated: Aug 10, 2006 01:48 IST

THE JAN Morcha Alliance (JMA) today called upon the people to dislodge the Mulayam Singh Yadav government in the state. Its convener Raj Babbar said departure of the Yadav government had become necessary to protect the hapless people.

Leading the “Mukti Sangram” march from historic Kakori to Lucknow on Wednesday along with the JMA allies, Babbar said “dalals” had virtually pushed the state to the brink of disaster. He said the JMA movement was aimed at liberating the state from the clutches of the “dalals”.

A large number of people thronged the 30-km route from Kakori to Lucknow to greet Babbar. The JMA leader said resentment was brewing among the people over the prevailing anarchy and lawlessness. Referring to the Dadri power project, Babbar said it would never come up.

He said the group involved was never interested in setting up the project, as the whole exercise was to grab 2500 prime roadside land for other purpose.

Babbar said the local police was used to pressure the farmers to part with their land.

He said there was a plan to acquire one lakh acre of land to help only one industrial house. Babbar said government decision to establish special economic zones was further aimed at ruining the farmers.

Babbar, who resorted to a dharna outside state Assembly, said the state government had failed on all fronts. He said the JMA would organise a huge demonstration at Dadri on August 17.  Babbar pledged that he would garland the statue of Mahatma Gandhi only after ousting the Yadav government.
