The JMM on Sunday criticised Union Home Minister P Chidambram's proposed joint operation to flush out naxals in the affected areas.
"The union Government's step is nothing but to divert the minds of people from its failure to control price rise, failing to hold panchayat election as well as assembly elections," Ramesh Hansda, general secretary of JMM's central committee told reporters.
The union government's proposal to launch Cobra operation in naxal-affected areas will not serve its purpose, he claimed while stressing on the need to strengthen the democratic set up in rural areas to solve the menace.
"The majority of the people in rural pocket depend on agriculture but they are deprived of water, irrigation facilities, electricity, education, proper health care facilities," he said.
Meanwhile, the party has decided to put up its candidate in 39 constituencies in the forthcoming Maharashtra Assembly polls.
