John Abraham was in the Capital on Tuesday on his way to Uzbekistan for yet another shoot.
From the festival circuit to the gossip columns, the boy is an undisputed favourite. Even the critics had gone easy on the guy for a while.
But alas 'Mr Favourite’ has finally hit a roadblock. John got a strong dose of criticism for his performances in Baabul and Kabul Express.
But the actor is unfazed, “I believe in criticism as strongly as I believe in appreciation. I feel I gave it my best. I am not afraid to own responsibility.”
|John will be seen as a football player in his next film Goal|
The year gone by has been kind to John. His career graph saw three back-to back releases, besides a calendar and clothing line after his name. So what does he enjoy the most — being an actor or a brand?
“John, the brand, comes into play in the clothing line and the special edition calendar. But as an actor watch out for my next three years,” he smiles.
In other words, just like his passion for fast track biking, John has decided to “create my own road — and I am riding it!”
On his forthcoming film No Smoking, John gives us his take on his director Anurag Kashyap, “Anurag is usually associated with dark and intense themes. But in No Smoking viewers are in for a surprise. They will laugh through every scene. It is going to be my best work so far.”
Pet pride: The actor aims to deliver variety to his fans with each movie. “Post Kabul Express, I want my viewers to feel that every John Abraham film is different.”
As he finishes his chai and begins to settle in his chair, we ask him about his new 1000cc Yamaha R1, Black Raven. The avid biker perks up, “Oh she is simply gorgeous and doing great.” As a parting shot, we mention the M word. John pauses. and says thoughtfully, “Marriage is simply very-very far off.”
