A sub-divisional court in Koderma district on Saturday rejected the bail petition of Delhi-based scribe Nirupama Pathak’s mother Sudha, who was arrested on May 3 on the charges of filicide.
Nirupama (23) was found “smothered to death” at her parents’ home at Tilaiya, 160 km from here, in a suspected case of honour killing on April 29.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate, Koderma, N.K. Agrawal rejected the bail petition of Sudha despite repeated arguments of her lawyer that she had been falsely implicated.
A team of investigating officers interrogated Sudha inside the prison. They wanted to know the names of persons who visited her home on April 28 to 29, when Nirupama was killed, a police officer said.
On Friday, the CJM court had rejected a police petition seeking remand of Sudha for interrogation. But the court had allowed the police to go inside the jail for questioning her.
