The wedding of late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan's son Rahul and Shweta Singh on August 29 in Mumbai, would be a 'simple affair' with no elaborate arrangements being planned in the wake of recent incidents in the family.
"The wedding would be held at 11:31 am at the Blue Sea Banquets in Worli area and only about 300 persons have been invited for the event," party sources said.
No reception has been planned after the wedding, they said.
With Maharashtra CM Vilasrao Deshmukh and Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled states on the guest list, the event would see a considerable gathering of VIPs.
Among the invitees are BJP leaders Atal Bihari Vajpayee, LK Advani and Rajnath Singh.
Senior BJP leader Gopinath Munde recently met Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray, with whom the late Mahajan shared a very good rapport, and invited him for Rahul's wedding.
The invitation cards in Marathi and Hindi read, "Your prayers and good wishes have been a companion while experiencing joys and sorrows of life. Now, a happy event is taking place in our family, as per Pramodji's wishes."
The invitation card bears the name of Rekha Mahajan, the late BJP leader's widow.
Rahul Mahajan is facing trial in a Delhi Court in a drug abuse case. According to the prosecution, Rahul along with late Pramod Mahajan's key aide Vivek Moitra, had allegedly consumed an unspecified quantity of a cocktail of drugs on June 1. While Moitra was brought dead to Apollo Hospital, Rahul had to undergo treatment for his condition.
