JSCA announces cash award for Vijay Merchant winning team

The state cricket association will also honour them with the association blazer to each member of the team.

Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) on Thursday announced a cash award for the state under-17 cricket team which won the Vijay Merchant (Plate group) rpt (Plate group) trophy on Wednesday.

"It is a great victory for Jharkhand and boys displayed a stupendous performance when it mattered most", said JSCA president Amitabha Choudhury.

Announcing a cash award of Rs 1.51 lakh for the winning team members and officials, Choudhury said the state cricket association will organise public felicitation on January 27 when the team will arrive here.

The state cricket association will also honour them with the association blazer to each member of the team.

On Wednesday Jharkhand won the Vijay Merchant trophy defeating Vidharba by 82 runs.

Former Test cricketer and secretary of Bihar Cricket Association, Ramesh Saxena also hailed the oustanding achievement by Jharkhand under 17-year team.

Former Bihar captain and a level-3 coach, K V P Rao said he did not have any word to appreciate the performance of the under-17 team as the win was first of its kind in the eight-decade cricket history of state.

Formet test cricketter and captain of Bihar Ranji team, Randhir Singh said the players and selectors deserved all credit for the win that came at the national level for the first time in the history of cricket in Jharkhand.
