JU professor gets Rs 10.5 lakh young teacher award by AICTE

Parikshat Singh Manhas of University of Jammu has been awarded the prestigious “Career Award for Young Teachers” by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), the apex educational body in the country, a spokesman of the varsity said in Jammu.

The award, which carries a reward of Rs 10.5 lakh, was conferred on Manhas for his proposal “Destination Positioning Analysis” for promotion of tourism in violence prone regions.

He is the second from the University to bag this award.

An Associate Professor at the Business School and Centre for Hospitality and Tourism Management, University of Jammu, Manhas was recently entrusted with a major research project worth Rs 5.50 lakh by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Manhas, hailing from Bhaderwah in Doda, has been working as coordinator and lead teacher of Global Understanding Course. He did his post master’s in Electronic FGCommerce and Information Sciences from Seattle University, USA.

Career Award for Young Teachers is one of the most coveted and sought after awards of the country, amongst the academicians teaching at higher educational level.
