More than a decade after former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had announced a solution to Kashmir issue within the ambit of ‘justice and humanity’, Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Rajnath Singh reiterated the same on Saturday.
A six member BJP delegation led by Singh is on a visit to the valley to meet people of various shades. "BJP wants to solve the Kashmir issue with the ambit of 'insaf aur insaniyat,' Singh said at a press conference.
But hurried to stress that “a solution to the problems of Jammu and Kashmir is possible within the constitution of the country of which the state is an integral part”.
The delegation is on a study tour of Jammu and Kashmir and will submit a report suggesting solutions to Kashmir issue to the party within three months.
Singh said that people of all the three regions of the state - Jammu, Ladakh and Kashmir alleged of discrimination.
The BJP leader said that there were complaints of rampant corruption in the state. "The delegations we met so far have talked about rampant corruption in Jammu and Kashmir," he said.
The delegation also met chief minister Omar Abdullah in Srinagar on Saturday and raised the issue of increasing time period of Amarnath Yatra.
