Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Wednesday launched a modernisation programme of 10,000 km of roads in the state under public-private partnership.
The government might take up a similar project to upgrade 12,600 kms of rural roads, he said after launching the scheme.
The state was contemplating to extend the project to cover 66,000 kms of roads. Works on the 10,000 km would commence in about six months, Yeddyurappa said.
The government was focusing on development of industrial areas, airports and power projects, he added.
