President APJ Abdul Kalam will inaugurate the three-day global meet of NRIs being organised in Patna from January 19, state Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said on Friday.
"Hon'ble President has accepted our invitation to come to Patna on January 19 to inaugurate the NRIs conference," Kumar told reporters on Friday.
Stating that the visit of Kalam would be "a big event" for Bihar, Kumar said his government had always "benefited from the president's advice and guidance for achieving the objective of making Bihar a developed state".
The chief minister informed the president would be returning to New Delhi on the same day.
The global meet was also likely to be attended, among others, by several dignitaries including Labour peer of House of Lords in England Dr Meghnad Desai, former RBI Governor Dr C Rangarajan and ITC Chairman YC Deveshwar.
Besides, over 70 NRIs from ten different countries and representatives from various bodies, including the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, UNICEF and Bihar Industries Association would attend the meet.
The conference is being organised by a few bodies with the support of the state government on the theme "Resurgent Bihar" in an attempt to project the initiatives taken by the Nitish Kumar government to mobilise investments for ensuring all-round growth of the state.
