Highlight Story

Three police personnel deployed on security duty in the city for the recent Presidential visit were suspended on the charge of dereliction of duty.

Police said the three were posted along with others at the Government Guest House, on September 23 where President APJ Abdul Kalam stayed that night.

A city-based doctor, Murugesan, working at a corporate hospital had met the President and displayed before him a shaving razor, claiming that it was unique, taking the security personnel by surprise.

Following this security lapse, the three were suspended by City Police Commissioner M Chidambarasamy.

Those suspended were Inspector Rajendran, Sub-Inspector Shanthi and Head Constable Daveed Raja.
