A day after Dayanidhi Maran was officially dropped from the union cabinet, another trouble hit the Marans. The Chennai police summoned Dayanidhi’s brother, media magnate Kalanithi, on Wednesday for questioning in connection with charges of cheating and intimidation.
Now film distributors in Chennai have filed cases against Sun TV Network’s subsidiary Sun Pictures, whose chief executive officer Hansraj Saxena is in police custody. Kalanithi Maran has sought time till July 26.
Also, the CBI said when Dayanidhi Maran was telecom minister, he favoured Sun TV Network, headed by Kalanithi. The Maran brothers are closely related to DMK chief and former chief minister M Karunanidhi.
Saxena had been arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by film distributor TS Selvaraj, who alleged that Saxena cheated him out of around Rs 80 lakh and threatened him when he asked for the money in connection with the distribution of the Tamil movie, Theerada Vilayattu Pillai.
