The second test identification parade (TIP) of accused persons in the sensational nun rape case during the Kandhamal riots is scheduled to be held tomorrow at Choudwar jail in Cuttack, official sources said.
“The court has already fixed June 23 as the date for conducting the second TIP in the nun rape case,” an official of the crime branch (CB) of police told PTI.
Though the CB arrested seven more accused persons in the rape case since a month, it could not conduct the TIP as the victim was reluctant to visit Kandhamal again.
The nun moved the Orissa High Court seeking change of venue of the TIP to Cuttack which was granted to her.
The first TIP was held at Cuttack on January 5 where the victim had identified two youths, the official said.
The youths were arrested from K Nuagaon area under Baliguda police station where the nun was allegedly raped by a gang during Orissa bandh on August 25, 2008, two days after the killing of VHP leader Swami Laxmananda Saraswati.
“We are not sure who is coming to the TIP tomorrow. Last time, the nun and the only witness Fr Thomas Chelan had attended,” the official said adding that Fr Chelan could not identify any one of 100 people produced before him.
