Congress leader and member of legislative council (MLC) Ravinder Sharma on Sunday said intrusion by Pakistani troops in the Kargil War in 1999 was due to the failure of intelligence agencies of the then NDA government headed by AB Vajpayee, which had cost the lives of several soldiers of the country.

While paying tributes to the martyrs of the war, Sharma said the episode also exposed the failures of the government on the diplomatic front. The MLC also expressed concern over frequent ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops.
