After days of gruelling electioneering in poll-bound Karnataka, it is time for a day's relaxation for some top political leaders ahead of the first phase of polling on Saturday.

As the clock struck 5 pm on Thursday, top leaders who were on a campaign trail, returned home and decided to rest for a day on Friday, before resuming their hectic schedule for the second and third phase being held on May 16 and May 22 respectively.

Congress Poll Management and Coordination Committee Chairman S M Krishna, who campaigned in 11 districts where 89 assembly constituencies face election in the first phase, chose to relax today and leave for Maddur, his home town to cast his ballot on Saturday.

Krishna has had a hectic schedule in the last three weeks holding road shows in all the constituencies in Bangalore Urban, Rural districts, Tumkur, Mandya, Mysore, Kolar, Chikkaballapur and Hassan.

Former Chief minister and JDS leader H D Kumaraswamy who is constesting from the Ramanagara segment, is also resting.

Kumaraswamy went through a tightly packed schedule as his party depended on him and his father Gowda for electioneering in the absence of top leaders, who had deserted the party.

Interestingly, none of the top leaders from Congress and BJP visited Ramanagara constituency to canvass against Kumaraswamy

Deve Gowda's eldest son, H D Revanna, is contesting from the Holenarasipura assembly constituency in Hassan district where S G Anupama, the daughter-in-law of G Puttaswamy Gowda, is the Congress candidate.

Gowda has been camping in Hassan since last night planning last minute strategies to ensure his son's win.

However, BJP Chief Ministerial candidate, BS Yeddyurappa is still on the campaign trail. Yeddyurappa, who has vowed to bring the party to power and lead its government, is campaigning in parts of Raichur and Koppal today, which go to polls in the second phase on May 16.

BJP National General Secretary HN Anantkumar and senior leader Sushma Swaraj are continuing their campaign today for the second phase.

KPCC President M Mallikarjun Kharge is electioneering in parts of Chitradurga and Shimoga.
