All colleges and schools in the Kashmiy Valley will remain closed on Monday and Tuesday as a precautionary measure due to a call by separatists for a students' protest against alleged human rights violations in the state, an official statement said on Sunday.

The hardline separatist Hurriyat group headed by Syed Ali Geelani had called for Valley-wide protests by students on Monday and Tuesday.

An official statement said: “All the colleges and schools in the Valley would remain closed on Monday and Tuesday on the demands of the parents and as a precautionary measure.”

Both the hardline and moderate Hurriyat groups have called for a protest march to north Kashmir's Sopore town on Monday where the fourth day funeral prayers of the two youths killed in the town in Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) firing on Friday would be offered.

A CRPF spokesman had said the troopers had fired in self-defence when their vehicle was attacked and later torched by an angry mob.

The state government has already ordered a probe into the incident to be headed by Justice (retired) Syed Bashir-ud-Din, the chairperson of the state human rights commission.
