Bollywood leading ladies Katrina Kaif and Lara Dutta have turned down veteran actor Govinda's request to star opposite him in a small cameo in the upcoming film Life Partner.

The actor is dismayed as he had taken the onus of convincing a prominent leading lady to pair up with him for a special cameo. He had hoped his tinsel town friends Lara and Katrina would agree to play this small but significant part, sources close to the film said.

"But when he approached them, they cited date problems. A small role coupled with the actor's flagging fortunes as a http://www.hindustantimes.com/news/images/katrina.jpgstar might not have excited the B-town girls," they said.

Govinda plays a cunning lawyer in Life Partner who keeps breaking everyone's relationship and later in his life finds love. It was a special cameo where the heroine was required to play the part of three to four sceens and a song.

The actor then asked director Rumi Jaffery to cast whoever he wanted. Co-producer Studio 18 then stepped in and requested Amrita Rao to join the cast.

Rumi Jaffery said "Amrita Rao has shot with us for three days and it has turned out to be really well."
