Kavita receives Lata award

?LATA JI is like Goddess Saraswati to me,? declared renowned playback singer Kavita Krishnamurti who was conferred the Lata Mangeshkar award by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan at a glittering function held at the Nehru Stadium here today.

“LATA JI is like Goddess Saraswati to me,” declared renowned playback singer Kavita Krishnamurti who was conferred the Lata Mangeshkar award by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan at a glittering function held at the Nehru Stadium here today.

The award instituted by the State Government carries a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and a citation. State Culture Minister Laxmikant Sharma presided over the programme, and Kavita’s husband and noted violinist Dr L Subramanium was also present on the occasion.

The CM was also accompanied by his wife. BJP national vice-president Sumitra Mahajan, Mayor Dr Uma Shashi Sharma and other dignitaries were also on the dais. Divisional Commissioner introduced the recipient of this year’s award, while Culture Secretary Pankaj Raag read out the citation.

After the award function, Kavita regaled the gathering with a performance. Dr Subramanium also gave a performance on the occasion.
