Inspired by the successful run of season four of Kaun Banega Crorepati, UTV Indiagames has developed a mobile game on the quiz show. The eponymous game will release across a batch of telecom operators and mobile platforms, and adhere to the 13-question format of the show.
UTV Indiagames has traditionally involved itself with mobile properties based on movies. With KBC, they’ve now also ventured into the television shows segment. “There are four or five reality shows going on at the moment but the response to KBC 4 has been the best. It works for us because we’d thought about the game much before the show went on air this year,” said Vishal Gondal, CEO, UTV Indiagames.
The structure of the game is largely the same as that of the show. However, since lifelines such as ‘Phone a friend’, ‘Audience poll’ and ‘Ask the expert’ won’t yield answers, additional lifelines have been added. “When this version goes live, we’re going to have Facebook connectivity and micro transactions instead of real money. So you could probably buy an extra chance if you’ve lost all your lifelines,” Gondal said. The experience, he added, is going to be as real as possible, but in the simplest format.
Additional features such as a multiplayer option will be added in the days to come. After release, the game will be available on the Web and accessed across app stores. The company says there is a possibility that they might bring out more games based on reality shows. “Games where mobile users can converge on the Web and play with each other, we’re considering all that. But primarily, we’ve always been focused on cricket, Bollywood and action as our primary genres of interest,” Gondal added.
