Create space: A cramped closet is just too frustrating. Store just the clothes which you wear and give away the ones that you hardly ever touch. This will create more space. Hanging short and long clothes together wastes the space below the short items. Group similar items together, and then place a rod wherever there is a big gap.
Hangers and shelves: Maintain six-inch unused space in hanging rods to avoid clutter. The long shelf above most closet rods invite messy piles of clothing or handbags that tangle or topple over. Add clip-on shelf dividers or add a row of bins or boxes to create order. You can also use adjustable shelves rather than fixed ones.
Don’t keep stuff on the floor: Don’t store shoes on floor because they might get damaged by vacuum cleaners and look messy. Add shoe cabinets for shoes, and use lowboards to keep them organised.
Avoid lights above the closet: Add a ceiling light or LED shelves in the closet to light it up properly.
His and her section: Make neat divisions for everyone’s clothes instead of stacking everything together.
