To ensure transparency in its working, the Aam Admi Party (AAP) on Sunday said that the Haryana unit's account details would be uploaded online every week.
"The party charter states that the office of treasurer can be held either by a chartered accountant or an experienced accountant," Manish Sisodia, national executive convener, told the media at Bhramin Dharamshala here. No office-bearer except for a professional expert in maintaining accounts was eligible for the post of treasurer, he said. "We have decided to post the account details on our website every Monday to maintain transparency."
Sisodia and his party colleague Yogendra Yadav were here to announce the party's state executive committee. An entrepreneur from Ambala, Ashawant Gupta, was elected convener of the 14-member executive committee.
Leaders said AAP candidates for the parliamentary or assembly elections would be decided by party workers of the segment concerned.
"The party charter is against nepotism. People with criminal record, moral turpitude or involved in caste or religion politics would not be fielded in elections,” Yadav said, adding that caste politics had taken deep roots in the state but the AAP was ready to take the challenge by showing the real face of corrupt politicians.
“The AAP does not have space for the likes of Om Prakash Chautala and Gopal Kanda. Candidates will be named by the executive committee of the segment concerned and the central leadership will have no role except to cross-check the clean public image of a candidate,” he said.
Sisodia said that soon party offices would be opened at village and municipality ward level and activists had been asked to raise issues of corruption, nepotism, poor standards of education, power, crime against women and weaker sections.
“Unlike political parties of Haryana, we have a clear stand against honour killing, female foeticide, corruption and any other social evil. We will approach people to bring change in the political set-up,” Yadav added.
