Kerala HC Bench not feasible: Centre tells state govt

Union Law Minister HR Bharadwaj in a letter had informed the government that it was difficult to set up the bench without the approval of the high court, official sources said.
Dashing the hopes of lawyers, who have been on a prolonged struggled for setting up a Kerala High Court bench in Thiruvananthapuram , the Centre has informed the state government that it was not feasible.

The agitation for the bench had been going on for more than a year. The state Assembly had also passed an unanimous resolution asking the Centre to set up the bench.
Hartals and hunger strikes were part of the stir by lawyers, who are still staging a sit-in in front of the Vanchiyoor Court to press their demand.
