A key agent of conman Ashok Jadeja, accused of duping people of crores of rupees in the name of God, was on Monday arrested from a hotel in Gandhinagar district, CID (Crime) officials probing the case said in Ahmedabad.
"We have arrested Shaitan Singh, a key agent of Jadeja from Kalol," investigating officer of the case RK Patel told PTI.
Singh was arrested from Amrut Hotel in Kalol taluka with Rs two lakh cash, Patel said, adding that his car has also been seized.
According to police, Singh was one of the five key agents who used to collect money from the people saying that he would give it to Jadeja who would triple the amount in a weeks time.
The police also seized another car which was purchased by another agent of Jadeja, Praveen who is absconding.
Further investigation is on and efforts are on to catch others accused in the case, police said.
