Kharar girls have captured the first three positions in SAS Nagar district in the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) Class X annual examinations 2007, the result of which was declared on Wednesday.
While the topper is Harsimran Kaur and second is Heena from National Model High School, Kharar, Kiranjot Kaur from Government Model Senior Secondary School, Kharar, is third in the district.
While Harsimran Kaur stood 23rd in serial number and ranked 11th in merit list, Heena secured 29th serial number and 14th rank. Kiranjot is on 43rd serial number with 16th rank.
Amandeep Kaur of Papri village near SAS Nagar and student of Sant Isher Singh Senior Secondary School, Sector 70, SAS Nagar, topped SAS Nagar city by standing 72nd in serial number and 20th in rank.
Another Kharar girl Gurpreet Kaur from National Model Senior Secondary School, Kharar, stood 76th in merit list's serial number with 21st ranking.
Feeling on top of the world and surrounded by family, friends and relatives, who converged on her residence on coming to know about her success, Harsimran attributed her success to the support of her teachers and parents. "While my teachers prepared me well, my parents always supported me to concentrate on my studies," said the jubilant daughter of a shoe merchant.
Having scored 90 pc marks in Class VIII exams, Harsimran wants to become an engineer, in which stream that she would decided after completing Class XII in non-medical.
Harsimran's father Kirpal Singh and mother Tarjot Kaur were feeling proud of their daughter. "My eldest daughter Paramjeet Kaur also remained topper throughout her studies till graduation," claimed Singh, who is a proud father of three daughters, Harsimran being the youngest.
