Kher, Razdan team up for comedy
NSD pals Anupam Kher and Karan Razdan have come together after a long time for the film Mr Bhatti on Chutti that has been extensively shot in Britain.
Anupam Kher and Karan Razdan, great friends from their days at the National School of Drama in Delhi, have come together after a long time for the film
Mr Bhatti on Chutti
that has been extensively shot in Britain. And they are already planning sequels too.
The comedy is about a bungling banker named Mr Bhatti who, instead of financial matters, takes great interest in the issue of world peace in his waking hours and dreams of Amitabh Bachchan at night. Bhatti's eccentricities get on the nerves of the bank's general manager and the former is forced to take a break.
While on leave, Bhatti goes berserk and vows to take on US President George Bush who, he believes, is the cause of the rise of terrorism in the world. Kher plays Bhatti and the comedy has been written and directed by Razdan. Kher announced the completion of the movie at his acting school Actor Prepares in Mumbai on Friday.
He added that a series of movies could be made on the character of Bhatti on the lines of the
Pink Panther
and James Bond series. "In fact, we are planning to make two sequels to
Mr. Bhatti on Chutti
. The first one would be
Bhatti Bhatti Bang Bang
and the second one has been titled
Mr. Bhatti in China
," the actor said.
Said Razdan: "Though (it is) a comedy, in the larger context, the movie deals with the serious subject of shattered peace in the world." He added that the film also celebrates the stardom of Amitabh Bachchan as he plays Bhatti's conscience keeper as also his inspiration. Shot extensively in Britain,
Mr. Bhatti on Chutti
has been produced by Ashwini Chopra and
Gain Charade
. The cast also includes Shakti Kapoor and Pakistani actor Abid Ali, who plays an officer from Scotland Yard.
