“I just tried my luck both times,” claimed the 24-year-old, who allegedly abducted and raped two minors in the last two weeks.

A Class 10 dropout, Pritesh Doshi has been charged with kidnapping a teenager from Andheri Lokhandwala on May 10 and the other from Charkop on May 19 and raping them.

“These were the only two times I had approached girls with the intention of kidnapping them,” Doshi reportedly said in his police statement, adding that he did not know the girls.

The police said they would investigate if he has been involved in similar kidnap-rape cases.

On Wednesday, the Charkop police arrested Doshi from his Malad residence for allegedly kidnapping and raping a 13-year-old girl from Kandivli at a guesthouse in Madh Island.

During interrogation, Doshi reportedly confessed to have kidnapped another teenager, the daughter of actor-filmmaker, from Lokhandwala on May 10.

“Had I known that she was the daughter of a filmmaker I would not have dared to touch her,” he reportedly said.

Doshi allegedly took her to a resort in Madh Island and sexually abused her. As he got away the first time, he tried the
same approach at Charkop.

“I approached her and pretended to know her father. I could not remember his name but she blurted it out and played along, threatening to tell her father about her ‘secret’, which I pretended to know,” Doshi told the police.

He took her to a guesthouse in Madh Island and allegedly raped her. Senior Inspector P.S. Gawande said: “When the victim gave us Doshi’s description and we saw the hotel register, we did not suspect him as he was just a chain snatcher. But we matched his signature with previous records,” said Gawande.

“We showed the victim his photograph and she identified him.”

The police said Doshi, whose father is an estate agent, had been arrested last year for stealing chains.

“Doshi drove his motorcycle and robbed chains in Malad, Kandivali and Goregaon areas. He is involved in 20 cases on chain snatching,” said Gawande

He added that Doshi is an alcoholic and drug addict and used to steal to get fund his “habits”.
