Kids below 13 can't undertake Amarnath Yatra, maximum age fixed at 75

The minimum and upper age limit for the Amarnath Yatra has been fixed at 13 and 75, respectively. And only those who have health fitness certificate issued by a competent authority with them will be registered for yatra. The direction have been issued in accordance with the guidelines set by the Supreme Court.

The directions were issued by the Jammu divisional commissioner Pardeep Gupta in a meeting held to review the arrangements for the Amarnath Yatra, starting from June 28. In the meeting, the members discussed various aspects of the yatra, including commencement of yatra, online registration, accommodation/transport for devotees etc.

Gupta asked the departments concerned to strictly follow the Supreme Court guidelines, while making arrangements and registration for the yatra. The divisional commissioner welcomed the discount of 20% offered by the owners of hotels, restaurants and lodges for the yatris.

It was informed that till now 2.10 lakh yatris across the country have registered themselves for the yatra this year. Gupta asked the director tourism to ensure completion of facelift work at the Yatri Niwas by June 10.

He asked the officials to work in coordination and put in place all the arrangements by June 10. He directed the deputy commissioners of all enroute districts to make elaborate arrangements to accommodate the yatris in case of emergency due to inclement weather conditions.
